Subject: C&EN editorial
DCHAS members may be interested in the editorial in the March 28 issue of C&EN news, which discusses the graduate chemistry education scene in the U.S. Of particular note is the paragraph that says: "The difference between the safety culture of academia and that of industry and government labs is apparent in the workshop report. It states: =93When employers review r=E9sum=E9s, non-academic internship experiences stand out. This is especially true when industry and government lab participants discussed the difference in the safety culture between their environments and academia; knowing a student has experienced that culture already makes employers much more comfortable in the hiring process. The attention to safety is often the most surprising aspect of starting a new position in an industry or government lab.=94 " The complete editoral can be seen at http://pubs.acs.org/cen/editor/89/8913editor.html - Ralph Ralph Stuart secretary**At_Symbol_Here**dchas.org Secretary Division of Chemical Health and Safety American Chemical Society
