It is against most fire codes (except for very small cylinders which can be stored horizontally if they are protected against rolling (add a chock of some sort). Check your jurisdiction t o see if NFPA or IFC codes are in effect. CGA is another good reference source .

Excuse the cross-postings.
Besides not storing acetylene (and other fuel gases) horizontally, can you think of any reason why gas cylinders can’t be stored horizontally?
