Subject: Re: Maine Community Colleges Settle With EPA - $126,600 Penalty
Comments: To: esf**At_Symbol_Here**uvm.edu
For Immediate Release: July 12, 2005; Release # sr050704 Thanks for the heads up on this press release. An earlier July 5th EPA Press Release (sr050702) also involved a Maine College. EPA is proposing $107.165 in fines for the College of Art in Portland. Among the violations they listed using "marble chips" to neutralize acid pickling waste. Obviously they are talking about a neutralization tank which is useless for addressing the dissolved metals in pickling waste or acid etching liquids, etc. I am constantly fighting college building consultants that want to put in these damn tanks.
